About BYOD

Intel® Core™ Processors

What is BYOD?

Bring your own device (BYOD) is a program being adopted by K-12 schools that allows students to use a personal laptop, endorsed by the school for day-to-day educational requirements.

The BYOD movement is importantly driving technology-rich class rooms, new ways of learning and an increase in student engagement, to name but a few of the benefits.

The HP difference

HP BYOD are a team of educational specialists who help schools to select the right devices for their IT environment, maximising learning outcomes for students.

The program also enables parents to purchase, school approved devices, direct from HP via a school branded online BYOD store.

Where do we start with our strategy?

Learning with the right devices. Make learning affordable. Software solutions.

What future do students face?

Students must be prepared for the world they will graduate into:

Global

It will be global - almost all businesses are engaged in a global economy to some extent. Today’s student must be prepared for this changing economy. Being able to use technology to link to other cultures will provide a great advantage.

competitive

There is more competition for jobs as well as stronger competition when a student finds a job. They must be able to use the lastest technology to stay ahead of their competition.

Diverse

A more diverse workforce and more diverse world will challenge some students. They are engaged in a diverse school environment but must also be prepared for the diversity they still engage in the business world. Learning other cultures and working on group projects with students in other cultures will better help prepare them for their future.

What skills will students need?

  • Collaboration

  • innovation

  • critical thinking

Critical thinking, creativity, innovation, communication and collaboration are embedded in all learning areas at school and are a necessity in students lives in the business world. Technology rich classrooms provide a platform for practicing these skills and thinking broadly and deeply using skills, behaviours and dispositions such as reason, logic, resourcefulness, imagination and innovation developing. Education technology is increasing student engagement in these areas as they progress through school life and prepare for the jobs of tomorrow, today.
