What is BYOD?
Bring your own device (BYOD) is a program being adopted by K-12 institutions that allows students to use a personal laptop, endorsed by the school for day-to-day educational requirements.

Parental Checklist
What do look for when purchasing a laptop for school:
- Battery Life: minimum 7.5 hours per day.
- Dual-Band WiFi: Both 2.4Ghz and 5GHz to ensure connectivity to the school network.
- Minimum 4GB RAM: ensures greater productivity when multi-tasking. 8GB RAM is recommended.
- Solid State Drive (SSD): the latest technology for storage, they are lighter, faster and more reliable than traditional hard disk drives (HDD).
- 10" Screen or Bigger: a 10" is screen is great for basic learning requirements, while 13" to 15" sized screens are recommended for years 7 to 12 students.
- Lightweight and Compact: laptops weighing less than 1.6kg are most ideal.
- Convertible and Touchscreen: laptops that double up as a tablet and allow the use of pen, help improve learning outcomes.
- Enhanced service support: Three year next business day onsite or accidental damage protection.
